  • Ideal canvas size for character creation?

Hello all.
What is the Ideal canvas size for character creation?
Just checking as I will finally be starting my first image ready to export to Spine 😃

Hello! the ideal canvas size depends on how big you want your character to be in game. It is common to work at twice that size in Photoshop and then export at a smaller size for Spine, but it's not a rule. I recommend making a couple of mockups or placeholders and test what size looks best in your game on the target devices, then use that size (or double that size!) as the size reference for the PSD.

Hey, thank you, Erika 🙂
I won't be creating characters for games. I want to create my own animated wallpapers for myself 🙂
I have this idea of a village scene with characters coming and going and going about their daily business.
Some standing around chatting etc. Mostly just simple idle animations.
Though I am playing with the idea of placing a well in the village and anyone who gets too close is grabbed by a big tentacle 🙂
So a single village scene that takes up the whole screen (for wallpaper) with smallish characters so I can fit a nice crowd of people in the village at one time.
Im not sure if that makes sense but that's what's in my head lol
