  • Duplicate bones in dopesheet crash when expanded

Hi guys,

My animator has been busy making some stuff and somehow got his project into a state where there are duplicate "Item Left" bones showing up in the dopesheet. If you try to open one of these the editor crashes 100% all the time. These 3 ghost bones are present in the "Idle" and "FireBow" animations.

The dopesheet seems to think there might be draw order keyframes on these ghost bones, and my animator was trying to animate the draw order of the bow which is attached to the ItemLeft bone, so it might be related.

Interestingly, if we rubber select the 3 draw order keys on the 3 ghost bones and press delete they go away and stay away. We've done the same thing in both animations and things seem to be working ok, but thought I'd send you guys this info and screens. That's strange! Hmm I'll take a look at the project tomorrow, unable to right now since my PSU fried earlier today.

Thanks for posting this, any time a project gets into a bad state like this, it's important to fix it. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how you managed to create a draw order key under a bone!? :wonder: It's super weird. I don't think I can do anything for this without repro steps. Maybe your artist can keep their eyes open and if it happens again, think about what they were just doing.
