Hi,

was just wondering if Hiero Bitmap Font Tool was also created by Nate/Esoteric Software ?

I just found it, and it looks excellent for its purpose as well. The installer had Esoteric Software as the publisher.

Anyways, if it is from Nate, thanks again, very happy to see such excellent tools made available to linux users.

Looking forward to pitching in on the next Kickstarter whenever that launches

Yep, that was me. 🙂 Hiero shouldn't have an installer though. It works pretty well, but the output is not quite as good as BMFont for very small sizes, which can use supersampling. BMFont can run via Wine. The official place to get Hiero is my wiki article, which also has some info on alternatives:

I'd like to add supersampling and support FreeType in Hiero. There is actually FreeType support in a class called Hiero4 in libgdx, but then you lose the ability to apply effects.

Thanks Nate, that is awesome.

Sorry, yeah there was no installer, I just mean the launcher. I try to avoid having to use WINE or virtualbox if I have to, so it is nice to have this option.

Thanks again
