No Runtimes for Clickteam Fusion 2.5 ?!?
I have just went through the complete list of Runtimes that are available for Spine with many popular Game Engines and Authoring development tools and was just wondering why someone hasn't made a Runtime for Clickteam Fusion 2.5 ?
They have Runtimes for:
Game Maker Studio
Construct 2 & 3
Cocos2D & Cocos2D-X
Corona
LibGDX
Love
Unity
But not for Clickteam Fusion 2.5 ?!?
There is a lot of people that are using Clickteam Fusion as well and it might be a good idea for someone with the skills to develop a Runtime for Clickteam Fusion 2.5 also.
Please let me know your thoughts on this and if anyone here also thinks this might be worth investing into.
Thanks to all in advance and God bless!
We try to support the most popular programming languages and as many game toolkits as possible. To be honest, this is the first I have heard of Clickteam Fusion. We would be happy to support it, but in many cases such toolkits are not designed for low level plugins. Some game toolkits, such as Construct, don't provide APIs with sufficient performance to allow us to implement a Spine runtime efficiently. I have not looked closely at Clickteam Fusion's SDK, but if that is the case it would be better for the Clickteam Fusion developers to use one of our generic runtimes to add Spine support themselves. For example, this is what Game Maker Studio does and it allows them to render Spine animations very efficiently. The generic runtimes handle loading, parsing, manipulating, and preparing the skeleton data for rendering. The Clickteam Fusion developers would just need to take that and render it.
Surprised you never heard of Clickteam Fusion before...?!? :o
I know you had to have heard of the very popular game called "Five Nights At Freddy's".. Several sequels have been made and the author Scott Cawthon made millions off those games and several things have been made off of it. T-Shirts, Toys, collectables.. And soon to be a major motion picture movie too! All those popular games got millions of downloads off of the Apple Itunes Store, Google Play Store, Steam and many other game distribution outlets to mention a few! Type into a google search the name Five Nights At freddy's and you will receive nearly 44,000,000 hits!! Clickteam has been around a very long time and was here way before Game Maker Studio, Construct 2 & 3 and all the others. Clickteam is the original pioneer of the drag & drop game making authoring tool way before the others ever existed!! Read below...

If you do some research you will find that Clickteam Fusion is a very popular Game design tool and even the developer Asley Gullen from Scirra Software based all his designs from Clickteam which he himself was a user / developer before he created Construct, Construct 2 & 3.
Hmm, that is interesting! I'm afraid I haven't heard of Five Nights At Freddy's either, though I must admit that I live in a cave where I spend all my time working on Spine. It seems they have a C++ SDK, so it may be powerful enough for us to integrate our generic spine-cpp runtime. We'll take a look! However, please note that we have lots of work planned for the short term, so we probably cannot get to a new runtime terribly soon. If you have a rush, you could try integrating it yourself. You can check out the spine-cpp docs see how spine-cpp is integrated into the spine-sfml runtime, which is about as simple as it gets (1 file, about 250 lines).

That would be awesome Nate!!
I understand you have a lot on your plate with the development of Spine and fully understand the importance of the softwares development. However though, if you or one of your fellow team members in the near future can make a runtime for Clickteam Fusion 2.5 then I'm onboard and will most certainly be purchasing a license to the pro edition of Spine. I currently use Spriter Pro but it has limitations currently that Spine has does not! Brashmoney is working on Spriter 2 though that they say will bring it upto the same level as Spine though. But you guys are way ahead of the game here. I had been wanting to purchase a license for quite some time but instead of using sprite sheets I had hoped for a runtime to use with Clickteam Fusion 2.5 but couldn't find any...
But if your considering on developing a runtime for Clickteam Fusion 2.5 in the near future then that is good enough for me as well as several others I know and talked with that would purchase Spine in a heartbeat if they knew a runtime for fusion 2.5 was in the works someday soon in the future. Thanks for considering it though, and I hope it comes to pass!
