I think it's pretty reasonable to not have to make the selection. Note you have always had to make a selection of more than 1 key in all previous versions of Spine. As long as the first and last key in the selection is the same, it offsets.
In 3.7.43-beta, the box selection is now optional
all the keys in each timeline that has a selected key are automatically selected when dragging starts.
This does make for a few functional differences. The biggest is that you can no longer offset only a portion of the keys in a timeline. Eg, previously you could make a selection like this (as long as the first and last selected keys are the same) and it would offset only the selected keys:

I have a feeling this was more of a quirk than anything. Has anyone ever found a use for the old behavior?
Also, you'll want to turn off Offset
now, whereas before you could leave it on for non-offsetting work, as long as you didn't select multiple keys.
